Auroras Peak - Location Scouting

Location Scouting  -

I was asked to assist on scouting the location for the dance scenes in our film. This was very important because I had to consider how each location would look on camera and if it would work with the choreography.

Some of the location we viewed were:

1. Outdoor scenes: Devils Jumps, Devils punch Bowl & Crooksbury common (viewing it today)
2. Dance studios- possible locations: the Maltings,http://www.theplace.org.uk/studios

We had a look at various studios and potential locations, but eventually narrowed it down to two.

The first studio we viewed was the yoga studio. I suggested this because I saw an advert for this on Facebook as it’s only recently opened.
I had a look through their page and they had posted a couple of photos of the spaces available to use so I suggested this to my group. We were then able to book a slot to view it and discuss the pricing with the manager. There were a few concerns about noise as there would be classes taking place constantly so this may have been a problem.

The second location we found was a little place called Breathe Studios. As soon as we walked in, we pretty much knew this space was perfect for out film.
The studio was massive, well designed and there was a lot of natural light coming in from the many windows.
We expressed our interest and after some planning, we actually managed to book the space completely free of charge. This was brilliant for the small budget we had and this allowed us to spend the money on other aspects of the film.

In the end, Breathe Studios fit our shoot perfectly and we decided to go ahead with that for our film.
